Buses
Buses are large vehicles that are used for various types of
transportation. They can hold a large amount of people in the
seats and that makes for less vehicles on the road. It also
helps to reduce pollution. Many large cities have buses as a
method of public transportation. People can go to a bus stop
and get a ride where they want to go. In many of the bigger
cities such as New York people don’t even own their own
cars.
One of the most common types of buses out there are the
yellow school buses. They are in place to pick up children
before school and to drop them off again. The guidelines for
riding a bus vary by location. In some areas you must live at
least one mile from the school in order to get a bus pass. Some
children can ride the bus only after school in order to get to
a child care facility. School buses are also used for taking
students on field trips and to sporting events.
Charter buses take people on long rides for travel. They
often have an agenda and scheduled stops along the way. This is
a great way for a person to be part of a group and to travel
with others. It beats having to drive on your own and to not
having anyone to share the experiences with. Some charter bus
vacations can be a month or more in length and they cover a
great deal of ground.
There are also buses that a person can take to travel from
one location to the next. While bus routes like these are
becoming less common they do still exist. They often have cheap
fares and it can be more affordable than taking an airplane. It
is also a better choice if you aren’t going a great distance
and you aren’t in a hurry to get there.
In order to legally drive a bus you must have a Commercial
Driver’s License known as a CDL. Many employers require a bus
driver to pass a background check and to submit a copy of their
driving record. Since the driver is responsible for all the
people on the bus it is important to make sure they are well
qualified for the job.
